Waxahachie emerged victorious 62-52 against Midlothian on Tuesday on the strength of Larry Wise, who scored 19 points. Indians clinched their lead in the third quarter on a three-pointer from Wise.
Waxahachie trailed early, 24-23 by the half, only to come back strong in the final two quarters. Waxahachie had a late in the game scoring blast, putting up 25 points in the final quarter on the strength of a 11-3 run.
Making 71% (5-for-7) of shots from the field, Wise was on point during the entire game. He made 100% (3-for-3) of threes attempted, and was also strong from the line, sinking 86% (6-for-7) of free throws attempted.
Qua Grant also put up 9 points, two rebounds and one steal. Xavier Thompson II hit double digits, scoring 12 points for Waxahachie (5-for-8). JT Warren (12 points) and Montre Gipson (10 points) each had multiple three-pointers. Gipson was a big defensive contributor as well, racking up six rebounds and four steals.
Waxahachie finished the game with 25 rebounds (8 offensive / 17 defensive), six blocks and nine steals.
