Waxahachie moved to 3-1 in district play as they cruised to a 21 point victory over the Lady Panthers of Midlothian on Friday. With the win, the Lady Indians solidified a share of second place in what is considered the most competitive 5(A) district in the State of Texas. The only team with a better district record is Mansfield Timberview, who is currently 3-0 and ranked #1 in the state and 5th nationally (per Maxpreps).

With the teams lined up for the opening tip, Waxahachie fans waited in anticipation not knowing what to expect as Midlothian entered the game 3 – 0 in district. With the toss of the ball, the Waxahachie faithful would not have to wait long to see why the Lady Indians are called the “Fast and Furious”. Under the direction of long-time Head Coach Lesli Priebe, Waxahachie pounced on the Lady Panthers and never slowed down until the final buzzer sounded. From the onset, Mya Williams (Fr.) established her dominance early by putting up 10 points in the opening period. With the help of Rayna Ross and Cassidy Morgan, Ms. Williams was able to fuel Waxahachie to a 19 – 9 first quarter lead. As brilliant as Williams was in the opening period, Sarah Bush would shine as bright over the next 16 minutes. Picking up where Mya Williams left off, Bush would pour in 16 of her game high 23 points in the two pursuing quarters. With a 50 to 42 lead entering the final period, the Lady Indians carried out a balanced attack on both ends of the court. While the defense was delivering a TKO to Midlothian’s offense, Waxahachie was spreading the wealth with five players contributing to the scoreboard. In the fourth quarter, the Lady Indians rolled out what can only be called team ball. With five players scoring, Cassidy Morgan lead the charge with 5 points, Sarah Bush followed with 4, Rayna Ross added 3, Paris Gantt drained a trey, and Mya Williams completed her game total 16 points by adding 2. In the final period, Waxahachie would end the game as they began by completely dominating the Lady Panthers. Over the last 8 minutes, Waxahachie crushed Midlothian by holding them to a game low 4 points while putting up 17. The fourth quarter run would cap-off the 21 point victory.
