The Lady Indians rolled over Saginaw on Tuesday night with a convincing 39 point win. Behind the game high 17 point performance of freshman phenom Mya Williams, Waxahachie took control of the game from the opening tip-off. More than doubling Saginaw’s first quarter points total, the Lady Indians poured in 18 points during the period and matched that total in the second, extending their lead by the half to 21. Waxahachie’s dominance continued after halftime with an overwhelming display of offensive prowess and stifling defense. All culminating in a resounding 63 – 24 victory. Other major contributors were Cassidy Morgan who finished with 15 points and Diamond Atchison with 10. Morgan was a force on both ends of the court. In addition to her points total, Morgan was suffocating on defense and was force on the boards. When asked for a comment about her team’s play, Head Coach Leslie Priebe said, “Great things happen when everyone plays as a team. That’s what we did tonight. Eight players contributed to the scoring and our defense limited Saginaw to single digit scoring in all four quarters, allowing only 1 point in the fourth and final period. It takes a team effort to accomplish that level of dominance over a well coached program like Saginaw. Coach Hughes (Saginaw Head Coach) is a great coach and runs a quality program. Its not easy doing what we did tonight. So proud of these young ladies”.
Contributing to scoring for Waxahachie: Mya Williams 17, Cassidy Morgan 15, Diamond Atchison 10, Sarah Bush and Jordan McGee 6 each, Rayna Ross 4, Paris Gantt 3, Kaleah Young 2.
