The Lady Indians route W.W. Samuell High, 68 to 23, as they advance to the Regional Quarterfinals. Rayna Ross, the sophomore star for Waxahachie, ignited the Lady Indians in the first quarter by putting up 14 of her game high 24 points. Ross, who fell 1 point shy of tripling the Lady Spartans total points production in the opening period, was unstoppable. The spectacular play of Ms. Ross continued into the second quarter. When the buzzer sounded at the half, Ross had added another 8 points to her totals. Freshman, Mya Williams also got in on the act during the second quarter hitting a trey and cleaning up a basket on the inside. At the half, the Lady Indians held a 36 to 10 lead. After the half, the underclassmen were not finished with their offensive displays. Williams opened up the 3rd period by dropping another trey and hitting two additional jumpers inside the arc. Williams ended the third quarter with a team high 7 points. The fourth quarter would belong to junior guard, Paris Gantt. During the final period, Ms. Gantt would do what she does best, bombing away from downtown. Gantt padded the Lady Indians lead in the fourth quarter by draining consecutive 3’s and going 2 for 2 from the free throw line. Although Waxahachie’s underclassmen led the scoring on the night, it was a evening of contributions up and down the bench with 10 of the 12 Lady Indians hitting from the field or knocking down free throws. When it was all said and done, the “Fast and Furious” were headed to the Regional Quarterfinals and on a collision course with district rival Mansfield Summit.

The Lady Indians will go toe-to-toe with Summit High for the fourth time this season in the Regional Quarterfinals on Tuesday, February 20th, at Grand Prairie High School. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 pm.
